    “Let’s go fly a kite
    Up to the highest height
    Let’s go fly a kite
    And send it soaring
    Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear”
“Let’s Go Fly a Kite” from the 1964 Mary Poppins Film

This week we were inspired by kites! Have you ever flown a kite? It truly showcases a remarkable blend of artistry and engineering. The intricate design, carefully crafted with suitable materials, allows it to harness the air and gracefully soar above. Getting it off the ground can be a challenge in of itself and then keeping it aloft it’s own challenge if the weather conditions are not just so. But when everything aligns it is almost magical.

While these beautiful mixed media kites are not the kind you can tie a string to and take out into the sun, there is no doubt they are beautiful to look at and a wonderful source of inspiration.

“When I was a little kid, I loved to fly kites in my neighborhood. Sometimes the conditions were just right, but there were a few times when my kite ended up in a tree. Thankfully this kit will never end up getting stuck in a tree!

I combined a couple of different collections for this kite. I cut the sections out of some papers from the Watercolor Floral collection and added some stitching to them. I then piled on some flowers from both Watercolor Floral and The Plant Department collections and tucked in some ephemera as well.

I normally use frame moulds to build on top of, but this time, I decided to use the mirror frame mould to frame some Aquarelle Dreams chipboard sticker sentiment I nestled among the flowers. The mould was painted with Art Philosophy watercolors and some Opal Magic Paint.

The tail of the kite was made with lace and chiffon ribbon. To dress it up a bit, I added a butterfly embellishment from the My Sweet collection.” -Adrienne

    “Hello Friends,

The Strawberry Milkshake collection is perfect for projects for little girls. You can create various things like cards and tags with it, and I made a kite-shaped box myself. The layered composition I built consists of resin casts and flowers, while the adorable fox adds a sweet touch that any girl will love. How do you pack your gifts? Let me know 😘” -Hugs, Ania
