Glenda Viljoen lives in Johannesburg, South Africa and is the owner of SA Scrapbook Convention, a premier scrapbook convention – the largest of its kind in Africa. Her love for art started at a young age which continued into her post school studies, with art as one of her subjects studying to be a teacher. She is a qualified teacher and has been passionately scrapbooking since 2004 with her work published in various local magazines and publications. Her teaching experience includes teaching children, teenagers and adults in the school environment as well as in the computer industry. She completed various design courses at reputable organizations, designing adverts and artwork for various magazines and publications in the industry in South Africa. She designs layouts and teaches classes to retailers for a local scrapbook distributor in South Africa, Rubber Stamp & Engraving (Trodat South Africa). Advertorials of the various layouts are placed in local craft and scrapbooking magazines. She currently has work published on a monthly basis in two of the main scrapbooking and craft local magazines in South Africa: Scrapping & kie and Craftwise Magazine. In 2012 she taught alongside Graphic 45 and Prima Marketing inc at an event in Johannesburg and Cape Town to over 350 delegates. She designed and taught a class at the 2013 SA International Scrapbook Convention alongside Teresa Collins (Teresa Collins), Jodi Sanford (Fancy Pants Designs), April Foster (Studio Calico and American Crafts), Allison Black (BasicGrey) and Trisha Ladouceur (My Mind’s Eye) to 600 delegates at the SA International Scrapbook Convention in September 2013 in Johannesburg and Cape Town. In 2014 she taught a Fancy Pants Designs class at the SA international Scrapbook Convention alongside Layle Koncar (Simple Stories), Jayme Shepherd (Hazel & Ruby), Jeri Tanner (BoBunny), Charee and Jeff Filimoehala (Graphic 45) and Debby Schuh (Ruby Rock-it). Her mixed media class at the 2015 SA Intl Scrapbook Convention was well received with delegates learning many new techniques. She taught alongside Rachel Greig (Darkroom Door), Stephanie Smokovich (Bella Blvd), Laura Graff (Webster’s Pages), Jennifer Gallacher (Echo Park) and Trisha Ladouceur (Graphic 45). In 2010, she attended Ranger University in New Jersey, USA and is now a certified Ranger Instructor. This has enabled her to educate and inspire others in the use of inks, stains, paints and embossing products and techniques. She was a Guest Designer for Prima Marketing inc’s magazine, ‘My Prima Place’ Vol 2 as well as for Scrap Africa in 2012. Recently, she is has become a member of the Fancy Pants Designs Project Design Team for 2013, 2014 and 2015. In 2014, she became a member of the Prima Education Team. She is also part of the Scrapbook Generations, CREATE magazine 2015 Design Team and recently part of the 2015 Hazel & Ruby Makery Team. Her primary goal is to take scrapbooking on a never ending journey beyond mundane, repetitious themes and content to an ever upward attainment of new and exciting layouts and new ideas. She has a unique creative style both in her layouts and her teaching methods which makes attendance to both her classes and conventions an enjoyable, life changing experience. This is evident in the growing number of delegates who attend her events year after year and now her classes she teaches at events and at RS&E. In closing, she has never lost sight of the purpose of scrapbooking, which is her gift to family and friends that will enable her to leave a legacy of memories.
